Keynote Address: Expanding Insurance with Technology - a Digital Public Infrastructure Perspective

During the Zopper NX10 InsurTech Summit 2023, Ajay Kumar Sawhney, IAS (Retd), Former Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and IT, Government of India, emphasised the monumental growth of India's digital public infrastructure. He highlighted the transformative impact of innovations like Aadhaar, UPI, ONDC, and others. Sawhney praised Aadhaar's creation as a model designed to address specific problems, emphasising the government's investment in building a secure and reliable core database. He also lauded UPI's exponential growth, bringing unprecedented convenience to mobile users and fortifying the banking sector. Sawhney described ONDC as the next-generation initiative, drawing insights from network-centric principles. Overall, the government's proactive approach to digital public infrastructure innovations has significantly contributed to India's digital economy.
